825 Marching Percussion Artist: Hudson Dunbar
Hudson Dunbar’s journey with snare drum started in 2015 when he joined his school’s marching band. During high school, his love for the instrument led him to performance opportunities such as playing snare at the Macy’s Parade in 2017, and his passion for marching band earned him recognition with the Marty Hurley Leadership Award at Summer Drummin’ the same year.
Hudson went on to march with Music City Drum and Bugle Corps in 2019, the Auburn University Drumline 2019-2022, and Phantom Regiment in 2021 and 2022 where he was awarded the Marty Hurley percussion scholarship.
Graduating from Auburn in 2023 with a degree in Music Composition & Technology, Hudson now operates a successful private lessons studio full time. Since 2020 when he began teaching lessons, Hudson has shared his passion with over 70 snare drummers from 24 states and 4 countries! Many of his students would also advance to play in high-level drumlines themselves - 10 current and former students of his will be marching DCI this summer, and some march WGI as well.
In-between the task of instructing snare drummers at many different skill levels, Hudson spends his time creating content, working on composing solo & small ensemble commissions from his students, and spending time with family, friends, and his cat!
